Hello
We are Elizabeth, Claire and James. We are primary (James) and secondary (Elizabeth and Claire) school teachers and middle leaders. We have taught in the state and independent sectors.
Elizabeth Bowey is currently Head of Art and Head of Teacher Training at a large independent school. She has an MA in Education and is obsessed with pedagogy, research informed practice and supporting new teachers into the profession. She is fascinated by educational leadership, change management, change theory and is also constantly pondering the recruitment and retention crisis. She loves creating resources to capture pedagogy to inspire others to experiment and develop. Elizabeth's greatest professional achievement is the creation of a bespoke training program which takes graduates through a pedagogy focused development year to ITT, ECT and employment.
Elizabeth features on the Beyond Survival: The New Teacher Podcast with the wonderful Jamie Thom on the episode titled: How do teachers know if they are in a toxic school and what can they do about it?
Claire Robinson is currently Head of Year (year 12) and a Lead Practitioner at a large independent school. She has held various roles including Head of History and a fascinating role as Head of Projects, in Peru!
James Fish is a Lead Practitioner for Teaching and Learning, specialising in teaching, learning, and innovation across all year groups, with a strong focus on primary education. As Head of House and KS2 Technology Coordinator, he plays a key role in fostering both academic and pastoral excellence, ensuring a supportive and high-achieving environment for pupils.
James is a leader in digital learning and AI in education, pioneering the integration of 1:1 devices and emerging technologies into the curriculum. His work extends beyond the classroom through national discussions on AI in education, where he contributes as a member of the AI in Education Practitioner Panel, the Teacher Reference Group with the Department for Education, and the Foundation for Education Development Council. He also co-authored a national policy paper on the future of education with the FED.
He is currently writing his first book, AI Ready Classrooms: A Practical Guide for Educators, which explores the effective and ethical implementation of AI in schools.
Our Vision
We have set up this blog because we think constantly about teaching and learning and how we could be better. Elizabeth is in and out of lots of classrooms through her role as Head of Teacher Training and so is seeing inspiring things all the time that she wanted to start recording that. Claire is a Lead Practitioner, Teaching and Learning and so was generating loads of ideas for her school and wanted to share those more widely. James is excited to start sharing his experience with AI more widely.
Our vision started quite simply as a T&L blog with a mixture of research based stuff (theory), current affairs and tips and tricks. Somewhere you could come to find out views and opinions on stuff happening now, as well as finding things to practically try in the classroom.
Our aim for you is to find something inspiring - just one thing would be great. Go and try it in your classroom and feed back to us about it. If you like writing or you have resources which you are really proud of, then please do get in touch. We would like to feature your writing or your resources.
The vision for the future is to have more contributing writers (is that you?) and to have loads of resources for people to download and use. We want to share best practice so that everyone benefits!
